The crossover runs from today (July 14th) to August 3rd, so there is plenty of time to log onto the game and claim the promotional freebies. To celebrate the crossover, Alchemy Stars fans get a playable character from Persona 5, Mona, who they can recruit into their team of heroes without spending a dime.
Alongside playing as Mona, players can enjoy an all-new scenario, which sees other P5 characters joining the action; Joker, Queen, Fox, and Violet. Gamers can also recruit all of these characters, meaning that once the crossover ends, they can still play as powerful warriors from the Persona 5 universe; it will be interesting to see which of the Phantom Thieves’ powers make it into the Alchemy Stars setting.
The new scenario sees the Alchemy Stars Spiritweaver himself, Luke, fighting against the forces of evil that have overtaken his land of Umbraton. We see the Umbraton Mercenary Squad’s own Deputy Commander dueling with shadowy foes that have taken over his stomping ground. How to beat these pesky enemies and deal with bandit attacks along the way? By enlisting the help of Joker and Queen, of course.
The scenario is peppered with tropes from the Persona 5 game, so fans of that franchise are likely to see plenty they recognise from the title, in addition to the new playable Alchemy Stars characters from P5. Expect to see plenty of stylistic nuances from the SEGA/Altus game as Luke charges around Astra defeating his new Persona 5 Shadow enemy with aplomb.
Tactical tile-connecting is the name of the game when it comes to Alchemy Stars’ battle mechanics. Connect same-colored tiles, and players can unleash devastating attacks. We imagine that connecting the correct tiles for Persona 5 characters means we could see some of their most powerful personas wreaking havoc among enemy lines.
So, players can grab a handful of Lumambers and head to the recruitment screen right away, to join in the Alchemy Stars/Persona 5 crossover fun, plus they’ll pick up a handful of new playable characters with fearsome powers hidden up their sleeves, ideal for vanquishing evil hordes.
