Former captain Michael Vaughan was among those who let know their dismay at the loss of play. He tweeted that the game needs to do something to stop this from happening, as various speculative fines were discussed on the social media. Irate fan Alexis Fuller tweeted members of the England team, asking for a refund.
He said: “I want 10% of my money back. Wouldn’t go to football and find it ended after 80mins.”
He replied: “ok DM me your bank details I’ll do it now”.
The fan then posted a picture that he claimed showed Hales had put £4.10 into his account. The fan later posted a tweet showing that he had donated the money to the Lord’s Taverners charity, which involves youngsters in cricket.
