Wolff joins a cast filled with relevant actors to the brim. The ensemble includes Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Rami Malek, Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Quaid, David Dastmalchian, and David Krumholtz, among others.

Wolff’s addition as the most recent cast member of Oppenheimer was reported by The Hollywood Reporter, although his role in the Universal film has not been announced as of now. According to THR sources, Nolan’s casting process is so secretive that actors sometimes don’t know the role they will play until their deal is done. Production on Oppenheimer has been taking place in New Mexico for a few weeks at this time.
Again, Wolff may not be the biggest name attached to the project, but he has quite a few recognizable acting credits to his name, including Old, Hereditary, Patriots Day, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Jumanji: The Next Level. Casting him in the film proves that the casting director is going all out in ensuring this film will be one for the ages. Not only that, but it also ensures that everyone’s performance in Oppenheimer, big or small, will more likely than not be memorable to the audience.
Wolff’s first break into Hollywood was being cast in the TV show The Naked Brothers Band on Nickelodeon when he was a child back in 2005, and funny enough, he’s not the only actor in the cast to go that particular path. Josh Peck was cast a few weeks earlier, and he also got some of his first breaks through Nickelodeon around that same age when he was cast in shows like The Amanda Show and Drake and Josh. On a side note, it’s impressive on both of their parts that, unlike most child actors on Nickelodeon, they’ve continued to find work since then.
The fact that more news gets leaked regarding the recent castings for the upcoming Oppenheimer film, whether it involves a big name or not, continues to demonstrate how much hype this film will have leading up to its release next year. Between the big-name actors involved, Nolan being in the director’s chair, and the serious subject at hand, all signs point to this movie being a major hit when it’s finally released.
Let’s just hope that all this hype surrounding it won’t lead to colossal disappointment in the end. No one’s rooting for that to happen. Plus, knowing Nolan’s reputation as a filmmaker, audiences shouldn’t worry much about it because when he does a project, he commits to it 100 percent. Still, never say never. Remember how much hype The Phantom Menace had? It had the OG maestro George Lucas running the show, big-name actors like Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and Natalie Portman involved. Fans were getting the backstory to the most iconic movie villain of all-time. They wondered what could have possibly gone wrong until they saw the final release. Again, Oppenheimer is a safer bet, but let’s just hope the anticipation for this film doesn’t kill it when it comes out.
Oppenheimer will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023.
