Several characters in the Alice in Borderland manga were completely omitted and some of them even played important roles and had some dear social interactions with other survivors. While they didn’t necessarily change the plot or impacted the story in a big way, manga readers are sure to take note of these missing characters. They definitely could have added more to the story.
7 Joker
The Netflix adaptation merely teased or hinted at the existence of the Joker character and card. In the manga, the Joker actually had a more apparent presence as he showed himself to Arisu and the two of them even conversed about the true nature of the Borderland.

Their brief talk provided Arisu and the fans with some much-needed sci-fi exposition and a general idea of how the Borderlands worked. Sadly, and likely due to constraints of all sorts, the live-action series omitted the Joker, though it seems they might be setting up the character for a third-season reveal or spinoff.
6 Mahiru Yuji
Mahiru Yuji is one of the characters present in the Beach and in the manga. He was one of the most impressive elite survivors. He has an astounding number of games won under his belt as is indicated by his visa duration (30 days). Prior to the Witch Hunt which destroyed the Beach, Mahiru was ranked No. 5 in their social hierarchy.
It’s too bad the Netflix series never included Mahiru in the character list. His character had quite an important role in the Ten of Hearts or Witch Hunt game since he rescued Rizuna An and this led to their solving of the murder case. Near the end of the manga, Mahiru was also present.
5 Hayato Dodo
Another big character in the manga who underwhelmingly didn’t make the cut in the Netflix adaptation is Hayato Dodo. Dodo was instrumental in the fight against the King of Spades in the manga. He notably assisted Aguni and Akane. In the series, he was notably absent and the fight with the King of Spades was drastically different.

In any case, Dodo proved to be a tough character since he managed to survive the King of Spades fight and even went on to be a part of the final surviving group that was given a choice to stay or leave. Dodo also had a few social and heartfelt moments with Akane, leading to small bits of character development.
4 Eiji Mitsurugi
The Jack of Hearts game was one of the most interesting and thrilling parts of Season 2 since it was a social deduction experiment featuring Chishiya, a fan-favorite character. It’s a shame since the game could have had a longer spotlight in the adaptation and one of the characters from the manga that was cut to compress the arc was Eiji Mitsurugi.
Like the con-man character Yaba, Eiji was a swindler and was one of the wisest players in the Jack of Hearts game. Eiji was one of the few people in the Jack of Hearts game who wanted to drag out the session since they had enough food for half a year. But another survivor didn’t like his practical attitude and had him killed abruptly.
3 Akitomo Mino
Speaking of the Jack of Hearts game, Akitomo Mino was among the original participants of that specific game in the manga. He was more or less absent on the show or was likely not given any spotlight. Regardless, Akitomo revealed a deceptively obvious selection process for the face card holders.

The Kings and the Jacks were all notably male while the Queens were female. So, Akitomo argued that this narrowed down their search for the Jack of Hearts in the manga. Sadly, he died in the game despite his considerable contribution to deducing the identity of the Jack of Hearts.
2 Apache
A lot of the characters in the live-action adaptation of Alice in Borderland didn’t get the backstory they were due. The opposite was true in the manga. Even the villains had time to be fleshed out and the fans were allowed more opportunities to see their side of the story, and the King of Spades was among those villains.
In the manga, the King of Spades, or Isao Shirabi, had a mercenary best friend named Apache whom he was forced to mercy kill. The King of Spades even had a considerably lengthy backstory with Apache. The show merely showed the King of Spades killing someone on the battlefield and viewers can only assume that it was Apache but the notion was never really confirmed.
1 Gamon Kano
Gamon Kano is a character from the spinoff manga, Alice on Border Road. It had 31 chapters and was notably shorter than the main manga. Gamon Kano was Mira Kano’s brother, the latter being more popularly known as the Queen of Hearts in the Borderland. Poetically, Gamon was the King of Diamonds in the isolated story on the Border Roads.
There was little to no chance of him appearing in the Netflix adaptation, of course, but he could have been a proper backstory for the Queen of Hearts. She was interesting even without her own backstory on the show, though more exposition about her brother and the Border Road could have set up the potential for more seasons.
