The Twitch streaming platform is known for its inconsistency with the ban hammer, something that is brought up a lot whenever a major streamer does something that needs a ban or suspension but doesn’t receive one. In some cases, streamers are banned over something that doesn’t truly deserve one, but regardless, Alinity recently decided to impose a 3-day Twitch suspension upon herself. Twitch followed up shortly after and made it official, suspending Alinity for the same amount of time.

For those unaware, Alinity recently had a wardrobe mishap on stream that accidentally revealed more of her body than intended, yet Twitch was not quick to respond. Many did not expect it to, citing that it favors big names like Alinity, and so Alinity suspended herself first. She made this announcement on Twitter where several of her followers have commented on the slip-up since it occurred.

The reaction seems mixed, to say the least. Some seem agreeable to Alinity’s decision, many seem to be making fun of the whole situation, others state that it doesn’t deserve a ban, and many more seem to think that this isn’t genuine. One user suggests this is just an attempt to escape the heat, to which Alinity replied that “heat” has been her normal for two years. Another comment is from a Twitter account named Alinity’s Cat and reiterates the time which Alinity threw the cat on stream.

Regardless of one’s belief on the situation, Alinity highlights how Twitch’s inconsistencies shouldn’t be taken out on her, but the company, and points out that she has been suspended before. Twitch CEO Emmett Shear commented in the past that its moderation policies take two things in account: intent and context. It’s unsure how or if this played a role in its decision to suspend Alinity.

At the end of the day, it seems Alinity’s self-imposed ban worked out for the streamer. It’s not likely to be forgotten soon, though, and is just more fans and non-fans alike will pile on the streamer.
